Zhon's Strengths

Powerful Tier One Units
For costs, the Troll and the Hunter can easily take out an equal number of Tier 1 enemy units on other sides.

Best mobile siege unit
Although Stone Giant does not make an entrance until the later parts of the game, it is the best mobile seige unit. In numbers, a group of Stone Giants can overlap tremendous fire power to destroy all but the quickest ground or air forces. Add in a typical swarm of Trolls and Hunters for support, and you are pretty much guaranteed to crush a ground army of equal numbers.

Flying Monarch
Even though Thirsha is the most fragile Monarch, she has the greatest army busting potential. Being airborne offers several advantages. She has easy access to the center of a group of enemies for a full effect Wind Wave blast, melee units can't hit her. She also has access to all parts of a map and an excellent line of sight.

Many excellent "Radar" units
Zhon's Bat, Gryphon and Kraken are readily available to help you hit the enemy with ranged attacks before they see you.

Mobile Factories
Zhon's unit producers are mobile, offering great versatility. They can pack up and leave when threat is imminent, and they can move forward to produce units at the frontlines to keep the pressure up. Since they are small units themselves, they can build in places where factories cannot be built, such as on a hill or in a small, defendable pass.

Incredibly tough loadstones
Well, we've seen a patch that corrected some bugs, and since the extra strength Zhon Loadstones were not altered, we can assume they were meant to be this way. You have to remember that Zhon cannot crank out cheap builders to erect loadstones everywhere. Having loadstones that can absorb three times the damage gives them a break early on in the game against raiders.
